When the Right Environment Lets You Bloom

Sometimes we get to witness someone blossom without realizing they were carrying a seed all along. Samantha is one of those people.
I first knew her as a ex-colleague with a natural artistic eye—drawings, art, design. When an opportunity came up at my company, I thought of her immediately. She was chosen even before she interviewed, and I was simply happy to open the door.
She joined as an Executive Assistant and was welcomed, supported, and valued. In time, she transitioned into a design role, where her creativity could take up more space. Working remotely, having supportive leaders, and being in an environment where she is respected gave her something precious: Room to be herself.
And now I discover another part of her that I never knew existed.
She has always wanted to write. Quietly, for years, she carried that dream. And now she has written a children’s book, named "Pepper Goes to Preschool".
Seeing her share it brought me such unexpected happiness. Not because I had anything to do with her talent—but because I got to witness what can happen when a person is given the right soil.
Sometimes the best thing we can do for another person is simply to recognize something in them, open a door, and let them walk through it. The rest is theirs.
And Samantha is blooming beautifully.
