Quiet Steward of Abundance

All these years, something always felt incomplete about my occupation, as if there was a deeper current flowing beneath the surface that I had never quite recognized.
Then, the realization arrived in three simple sentences:
The job is simply the vehicle.
The salary is simply the means.
The deeper aspiration is to become a quiet steward of abundance.
Looking back over my life, I realized this quiet motivation had been guiding me all along, even though I had never spoken it aloud.
I have never wanted money for the sake of having more things. In fact, I enjoy living simply. I don’t need a large house filled with possessions or a luxurious lifestyle.
My greatest joy comes from spaciousness, quietness, and having enough. Enough to care for myself with dignity. Enough to care for those entrusted to me. Enough to give.
Perhaps this is why I continue to aspire to a role that supports my unspoken vision. With greater financial bandwidth, it allows greater freedom to respond when compassion calls. It allows me to say “yes” more often.
Yes to helping family.
Yes to supporting the Dhamma.
Yes to easing the suffering of animals.
Yes to living with dignity instead of merely getting by.
I no longer think my career is the destination. It is simply the vehicle through which I can live my deepest values.
That is the life I hope to live. A quiet steward of abundance.
