Holding Nepal in the Light

News of the devastating floods in Nepal came today. The tragedy was splashed all across Facebook. That evening, a prayer session was organized virtually to send merits to those who had unfortunately lost their lives and to those still caught between life and death.

I joined the prayer virtually at 7 p.m. and stayed for about twenty minutes before I needed to leave for my Kundalini class.

However, I didn’t really leave.

During the movement and meditation, I continued holding the people of Nepal in my heart. I imagined sending energy and white light toward those suffering, toward those frightened, displaced, or still waiting to know what would happen.

The prayer simply continued in another form.

This made me realized that compassion doesn’t always require us to stop everything. Sometimes it is something we carry quietly into whatever comes next.
