Just So

The three-day Labor Day weekend has come to an end. Friday, Saturday, Sunday—three days of simply taking a break.
Somehow, I truly lived every single day in peace. In calmness. In solitude. In complete contentment. I did not need to be somewhere, become someone, accomplish something, or figure anything out. I simply lived the days as they came.
Tonight, as the long weekend comes to a close, I feel a little sad. Not because anything was missing. Perhaps because I had a glimpse of how peaceful life can feel when I am not constantly thinking about what comes next.
For these three days, I was simply here. And I realized something rather quietly: I can live by myself in peace. I can be alone without feeling that something is absent. I can have a quiet day without needing to fill it. I can exist without constantly reaching for the next thing.
We spend so much of life striving — for more, for better, for different, for somewhere beyond where we are now. But what are we really striving for?
Tonight, the weekend is ending. Tomorrow, ordinary life resumes. Perhaps peace does not belong only to a long weekend. It is meeting ordinary life with the same quietness I found.
Nothing extraordinary. Nothing to prove. Just as it is. Just so.
