A Quiet Turning, Spiritually

I feel a subtle turning today.
It was through Walk-For-Peace movement in the United States that I was brought to the doorway of the Dhamma after being a Buddhist all my life. The peace messages, the monks, the chanting, the ceremonies and the tracing of the Buddha’s journey unexpectedly helped me see beyond my own ignorance and resistance. For that, I will always be grateful.
But perhaps now I can step through the doorway.
I no longer need to constantly watch, follow, or involve myself in everything happening around the temple and the monks. I can appreciate them without idolizing them. I can support without feeling responsible. I can contribute without becoming a fixer.
My direction now is inward. I want to live the practice rather than merely reading about it. I want meditation to become part of how I live, not another thing I must perfect. I want to listen to Dhamma teaching that genuinely deepen my understanding, rather than spending time and energy on following live events.
The people and circumstances that brought me to the Dhamma were precious catalysts. I can honor them without remaining attached to them.
The door has opened. Now, I walk.
