No Two Days are the Same

Updated: Oct 3

An executive assistant's job is never the same from one day to the next.

You can plan your day in one direction, only to find yourself pulled somewhere completely different - or in many directions at once. Some days are all about putting out fires. Other days, you're suddenly roped into a project that consumes half your time.

So I stay calm. Only when you are calm can you handle the requests, the interruptions, and the pulls in all directions. What's key is not to be thrown off balance by the external. Instead, focus on staying absolutely centered - filtering through the noise and zeroing in on what truly matters.

The trick is managing the difference between the "urgent and important" versus the "urgent but not important." The latter will always come calling, demanding attention. I deal with those quickly and move on, so they don't steal my energy. That way, I can claim my focus for the important work - the meaningful priorities that may not be urgent today, but must be stewarded with care.

Everything else? Delegate or dissolve on the spot.

Because in this role, no two days are the same. Yet the way I hold myself steady through them remains constant - calm, clear, centered. Ultimately, it's not about controlling what happens, but mastering how I respond.
