The Quiet Energy of an Office

Updated: Oct 9

There's more to an office than walls and furniture. A well-curated space carries its own quiet pulse - one that can calm, focus, and uplift the person who inhabits it.

I think I carry a quiet energy when it comes to decorating a space, especially an office corner. I've done this now for my CEO's office, the General Counsel's, and most recently the CFO's. It's never loud or intentional. Rather, it's an inward kind of sensing - feeling into the aura of the space, and then letting the right pieces settle into place. And once they do, the office is transformed.

This photo is one example. A soft lamp tucked in the corner, a touch of green alive on the desk, a neutral chair waiting, framed photos anchoring the desk with warmth - each detail small, but together they create an atmosphere that radiates a sense of calm and focus.

I take great care in doing this work silently, without the people who occupy the office even realizing how much thought and energy has gone into it. Of course, they notice the outcome and are pleased - but then they move on, as they should.

Maybe I mind these details more than others. But I believe office space, home space, even the space one claims on an airplane, speaks volumes. Energy exudes from a well-arranged environment is nurturing, welcoming, and quietly refined. In contrast, a barren or cluttered space feels sterile, discordant, even depressive. Imagine arriving every day to a cell-like room compared to a space warmed by soft light and a touch of green in the corner. The difference is profound.

Of course, everyone has their own taste and top executives usually have little time to dwell on decorating spaces. But I can't help but hold the opinion - and the energetic truth - that our environment reflects our character and energy. And once that energy is set, everything else flow from there.
