Fall is an Old Friend Returning

It's a very Fall morning - sunless, grey, rainy, cool. As if a shade has been gently pulled down, and the whole world bathed in subdued hues.
There's a kind of descending stillness in the air - the slowing, the dimming, the quietude. It doesn't feel gloomy, only hushed, like the world is softening itself for rest.
Something in me stirs - a small tug for soft light, cozy blankets, hot coffee and warm soups. I realize how much comfort there is in simple things when everything outside turns inward.
Fall is an old friend returning.
