Finally, the Right Doctor!

Updated: Oct 9

I went for my colposcopy procedure today. It took months of research to find the right gynecologist - one who would perform the procedure without unnecessary referrals or inflated costs. Earlier this year, I'd been charged thousands just to remove a tiny cyst on my eyebrow, and I didn't want to repeat that experience.

After many calls and careful checking with my insurance provider, I finally found Dr. Brenda Kim. When she walked into the room, I felt an immediate sense of relief. She was calm, meticulous, and respectful - a short Korean-origin woman with a kind energy and a sharp attention to detail. She had read through my full medical history beforehand and explained everything with clear drawing on the computer: why I was there, what was noted in previous year, what she would do, and what to expect.

Throughout the procedure, she narrated each step gently and thoughtfully. I felt seen, informed, and cared for.

Dr. Kim even showed me the samples she had extracted from my cervix walls, explaining what each meant. She shared that the pathology results would determine whether the HPV type 18 is inactive and harmless, or fi there are any signs of abnormal cancerous cells - which if found, could be addressed with a simple outpatient procedure. She documented every step carefully and skillfully.

I truly felt I had found the right doctor - the one meant to handle this procedure and consultation. It felt like hitting the jackpot after so many months of searching and uncertainty. I was so grateful walking out from that hospital.
