An Angel Next Door

ree

Waking up to 3-4 inches of snow this morning -- completely unprepared for it. As I stood there thinking how long it would take to shovel it all by hand, my phone buzzed.

A message from my neighbor, Sheila:

"I'm sending my guys over to do your driveway. It's my treat, lol. I wasn't sure if you'd want the pet-friendly sale -- they don't have it -- so I told t hem not to salt."

I just stood there, deeply touched. What an angel.

It would have taken me at least 45 minutes in the freezing cold to clear the snow myself, and today of all days. I needed to be at office early for a board review meeting by 8:30am. Her kindness arrived exactly when I needed it most.

Sheila, a single mother of two who has lived next door for nearly 30 years, continues to embody quiet compassion towards me since I moved in 8 years ago. She doesn't seek attention, yet her actions radiate care, thoughtfulness, and grace.

In a world often too busy to notice, she reminds me that angles do walk amongst us -- sometimes ins now boots, with a shovel crew in tow.
